I Shouldn’t Have Stayed Up So Late 44927 0.416666666666667 Location Livermore’s Ernie Rodrigues Softball Field Registered 6 registrants Ride Host: Randy Simpson Cell Phone: 925-980-9304 Name of Ride: I Shouldn’t Have Stayed Up So Late Type: Recovery/Conditioning.  No drop with periodic regroupings Starting/ending location: Livermore’s Ernie Rodrigues Softball Field Start time: Rolling at 10 am Estimated mileage: 23.9 miles Elevation gain: 1,299 ft Ride rating: 2 L.  Leisurely ride.  One short-steep (6-8%) hill on Carroll Road. Ride Details: Stayed up too late?  This is the New Year’s Day ride for you, before those football parties start up. We’ll ride through downtown Livermore to North Livermore and up to Flynn Rd.  From there we will proceed to Tesla Rd via Cross Rd and back to the start. A break in the rain is predicted for Sunday.  Check for the cancellation of the ride if it is actively raining just prior to rolling time. All participants must register online on the VSBC website or via the Wild Apricot app.  You do not need to be a VSBC member, but we’d appreciate your support and you’ll appreciate the many benefits in being a member.  History nugget:  Remedies for hangovers that may be associated with New Years Eve's traditions have been posited for thousands of years.  It is reported that Pliny the Elder of ancient Rome recommended raw owl’s eggs or fried canary eggs as a hangover treatment. More modern research suggests that mild cardiovascular exercise, e.g., riding through Livermore, may help with recover!
