Richard Winegarner’s annual New Year’s Day Ride and Brunch not only fell on a Friday this year but was also combined with coffee and goodies at Joyce Chang and Burt Daniel’s home.

Thirty riders left Healdsburg with about half going on the Leisurely/Moderate ride led by Dick Cantor and the remainder going on the longer ride led by Gary Grayson. The rides were designed so that each group would arrive at Joyce and Burt’s on Lytton Springs for coffee at about the same time and then ending at Richard’s off of West Dry Creek Road for a sumptuous brunch. 

The day couldn’t have been nicer for riding, not too cold and with a clear sky. The actual riding was uneventful with no reported crashes or flats. Richard had supplied all the riders with detailed maps in Technicolor! These were helpful for both groups since as with most rides, riders tend to ride at the pace most comfortable for them.  Many thanks to Joyce, Burt, Richard and his wife Dean for their hospitality.
