Santa Rosa Cycling Club
Both Friday rides on the second Friday of the month start from
Esposti Park in Windsor.
Twelve riders started out on a cold, but clear morning, with the
Friday Riders heading towards Geyserville via Shiloh, Starr, Windsor,
Riemann, Windsor River, Eastside and Old Red into Healdsburg. The
Friendly Friday riders remained south of Healdsburg.
Mike Ferrell rejoined the Friday riders after many weeks of involvement
with the Toys for Tots drive in San Francisco. Gordon Burns and
his father, Jim, returned to the Friendly Friday group after having
been away for several weeks.
As both groups headed west on Shiloh, we came across a white car
with a redjacketed bicyclists hurrying to get his bicycle out of
the trunk and on the road. Richard Winegarner was a late comer after
having driven to Cotati (the first Friday starting point) and then
finding no one there and realizing that the first Friday had been
on January 1 driven back to Windsor.
Chris Cleavland and Janice Eunice both had flats on their ride.
But it was such a beautiful day and with soup at Kaffe Mocha as
a goal, no one minded the extra effort in changing those tubes.
The Friday riders lounged in Geyserville for some time and then
most of the group returned via Chalk Hill. La Valle Linn joined
Richard Winegarner for an alternative loop through Healdsburg before
returning to Esposti.
ALERT!!! Next weeks Friendly Friday ride begins
at Howarth Park with the slightly faster and much faster riders
going to Mirabel Park and Ride.
