Both of the Santa Rosa Cycling Club Friday rides met
at the parking lot behind the Sonoma Plaza. More than 15 riders were
greeted by a sunny, clear sky (quite unlike the previous rainy Friday)
but cold temps at 9:00 am.
Nine in the morning was too early for the wayward tandem that later
caught up with the Friendly Friday group that encompassed all but
four of us Friday riders (maybe the tandem riders are listening
to Emilio!). Chris Cleveland and Richard Winegarner, along with
Michael and Janice Eunice, led the Friendly Friday group on a 40
mile ride through southern Sonoma and Napa counties, that more or
less followed that portion of the Liberty Century.
Gary Grayson and Mike Farrell agreed to ride a longer ride with
La Valle Linn. Steve Drucker joined this group as they left the
parking lot and that foursome rode 63 miles on more or less the
same route as the Friday riders but one that also included Dry Creek
Road. The roads were more dry than wet, the sun was out and the
wind was only a minor annoyance. A great ride for the riders in
both groups.
I know I enjoyed it so much the adrenaline was still rushing at
9:00 that night. All of the Friday riders encourage new riders to
come and enjoy the Friday rides. It's a great way to meet and socialize
with other riders. Both Friday groups meet at the Cotati Vets Building
on February 5. See you there!! |
