About
20 riders showed-up today to ride from Santa Rosa out Chalk Hill to
the Jimtown Store and back. A little threat of rain did not
deter this group from getting in some miles.
Wayne Kellam was the ride leader and he took it easy on everyone
because he hadn't ridden in a while. We rode at a moderate
pace to Hwy 128 and then a group consisting of Emilio, Maury, LaValle,
Bill Dunn and a couple of other riders organized a faster paceline
to Jimtown.
From there, part of the group went over to the Dry Creek Valley
for more miles and perhaps some wine tasting. Another contingent
took the Red Winery Loop before heading back. The third set
of riders just traced back to San Miguel school.
Isn't it great we have Chalk Hill Rd. to ride. It remains
pretty-much unchanged over the years with a few houses and plenty
of natural undeveloped terrain. There are some vineyards being
established in the area which I guess we have to expect, this is
Sonoma County afterall.
No crashes or breakdowns were reported, just a beautiful ride in
a wonderful area.
