| The Santa Rosa Cycling Club holds an annual "Free
Lunch Ride" every February (members who affix the mailing labels
on the Wine
Country Century flyer at the Jan meeting get a free lunch).
Frank
and Ellen Hamlin and Bill Oetinger led the leisurely, moderate and
brisk rides today. That's Frank giving pre-ride instructions
at left, with Bill in the background.
The group did a loop from Healdsburg, up West Dry Creek, over Canyon
and back 128 including Red Winery Rd. to Healdsburg. Richard
Winegarner, back from a nasty crash this summer, bolted of the front
of the moderate group and got towed back to town by a nice draft
from Joanne Tyler and the brisk crowd.
As
you can see, there was nice turn-out for todays ride which was held
under sunny skies and no wind. The weather really cooperated
and we appreciate it which is a bit of a change since it's been
raining frequently of late.
I did not hear of any mishaps but I could not stay for lunch to
get all the stories.
