Report from the 12/18/98 - Regular Friday Ride - Santa Rosa Cycling Club

Location: Mirabel Park and Ride

Riders: Jim Williams, Wendy Page, Gary Grayson, Doug Simon, LaValle Linn, and Maury Cohen

Six of us who weren’t working or shopping started out on this cold Friday morning and headed north to Healdsburg. Going west on River Road (Gary's suggestion), we turned right on Westside Road at Hacienda Bridge and rode where we regrouped at the Madrona Manor. The sun had come out of the fog by the time we got to Westside Farms so the ride had already warmed up, at least psychologically. We went on to Lambert Bridge over to Dry Creek Road and then South toward Lytton Springs. The view from West Dry Creek Road was outstanding! It is so wonderful to live in Sonoma County.

The ride continued on Lytton Springs to Chiquita and then south to Healdsburg. Good news from Chiquita – the cattle crossing grate has been removed and paved!

After coffee and treats at Cousteaux Bakery, we headed back to Mirabel via Eastside Road (yes, there are still gravel trucks). A great ride with only one, actually two problems – Maury’s tandem back wheel had two broken spokes by the end of the ride. Wendy had noticed the first in the middle of the ride. Of course, Jim accused LaValle of breaking them – he holds her responsible for the broken spoke on his new Rolf wheel.

Merry Christmas to everyone!!
